Company Overview |
| Main bearings, Generator and Pitch bearings, Yaw bearings and gears are typically grease lubricated in megawatt class wind turbines. Grease is the lifeblood of these components, and provides a source of information about component condition. The Grease Thief is currently in use in wind turbines in Europe and the US, providing insight into bearing and gear wear condition, grease condition and aging, and contaminants that can impact component wear rates. A special kit and tools to obtain representative samples of grease from wind turbine components conforms to the ASTM standard for grease sampling. Analysis of Grease Thief samples can be performed economically, providing up to 10 different tests on just 1 gram of grease, with results showing Wear, Contamination, Consistency and Oxidation of the grease and lubricated components. Root-cause analysis can show latent causes that when addressed can enhance wind turbine reliability and component life. |
