About the AuthorAlan Tricklebank Alan Tricklebank is a chartered civil and structural engineer with over 45 years of involvement in design and construction. Alan now works as an independent consultant having retired in 2007 as a senior partner of the consulting engineering firm Gifford where he was the director responsible for marine civil engineering. His career has included responsibility for major port, harbour and shipyard projects in UK and Asia and substantial involvement with marine wave energy R&D and offshore renewable energy from 1975 onwards. This work included the championing and development of schemes for the serial production of large floating structures. Building on this experience Alan initiated and led the further development of concepts for foundation structures and innovative installation systems for large offshore wind turbines with competitively-won support from the UK Government.
