Pierre Lestienne is Project Director (Finance) of the Nordsee One project since August 2013.

Nordsee One GmbH is a company set up to develop a 332 MW wind farm around 45 km from the coast in the German North Sea. Nordsee One GmbH is currently fully owned by RWE Innogy GmbH.

Project is developed by two Project Directors, Pierre being responsible of the commercial, financing and procurement aspects of the wind farm development.

Before joining RWE Innogy, Pierre was CFO of the C-Power NV. He built the business case and closed the deal of the Thortonbank wind farm in November 2010 (1,007 MEUR provided by a group of 7 commercial lenders together with export credit agencies and the EIB). He was also involved in the contractual negotiations to make a bankable business case (PPA, wind turbine O&M and insurance agreements).

Lars Engelmann is working with Vattenfall as Head of Project Services 'Logistics and Vessels' in the Business Unit 'Offshore Wind Projects'. Among other tasks, he is responsible for the alignment of planning and execution processes, driving of innovations and incorporation of lessons learned as well as standardization initiatives regarding marine operations and offshore wind logistics. Across all projects within the business unit he is leading an international team of experts and project managers based in Hamburg, London and Denmark.

As a member of the Vattenfall team for the offshore installation of Foundations and Wind turbines for alpha ventus, Germany`s first offshore wind farm, he was coordinating vessel assignments and operations during the installation phase 2009. Afterwards he took over the responsibility for the Installation Logistics package within the DanTysk project and focused on installation concepts, supply chain risk management and offshore construction management within the project and the offshore wind business.

Lars Engelmann has a background as naval officer responsible for on- and offshore logistics for worldwide German Navy operations. Prior joining Vattenfall Wind Power he worked for Siemens Power Generation within the Project Management for Fossil Power Plant Construction projects in the Middle East and as Logistics Expert for Siemens Industry Sector. He holds a MBA in Logistics Management from the Kuehne Logistics University in Hamburg.

Chris advises specialist offshore wind installation contractors and utility companies on the drafting and negotiation of, as well as claims arising from, a range of contracts relating to wind farm installation and construction. He has advised on a range of major European projects, including the world’s largest operational offshore wind farm and the world’s largest offshore wind farm under construction.

He is a member of the firm’s shipbuilding team and frequently advises buyers and shipyards on the negotiation and drafting of contracts for the building, conversion and repair of specialist offshore wind installation vessels, as well as dispute resolution in this area. He is a regular speaker and chairman of seminars on shipbuilding, conversion and repair.

Chris was involved in working with BIMCO to develop NEWBUILDCON, a standard-form newbuilding contract.  He also worked with BIMCO to develop a new standard form contract for offshore wind farm transfer vessels (“WINDTIME”).

His expertise covers a variety of contracts, including the BIMCO SUPPLYTIME Charter Party form, the LOGIC Marine Construction form, the FIDIC suite of documents and various bespoke contracts.

Mark was a member of the BIMCO sub-committee tasked with drafting a new standard form contract for offshore wind farm transfer vessels (“WINDTIME”).

He has been involved in some of the largest European projects including Greater Gabbard, Gunfleet Sands, London Array, West of Duddon Sands, Borkum Riffgat, Kentish Flats, Westermost Rough, Gwynt y Môr, amongst others.

Jan Matthiesen is passionate about wind energy. He started in the onshore sector but now has got his feet wet working on UK’s leading RD&D programme for offshore wind. He joined the Carbon Trust in 2010, where he is working on the Offshore Wind Accelerator, a ground-breaking collaborative RD&D project between Carbon Trust and eight leading offshore wind developers that aims to reduce the cost of offshore wind by 10%. Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, Jan worked as Head of Onshore at the British Wind Energy Association, now known as RenewableUK. Jan has a degree in mechanical / electrical engineering from the University of Applied Science in Hamburg, Germany and an MBA.

Lorenz Müller studied electrical engineering and received a PhD at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany.

In 2003, he joined former Vattenfall Europe Transmission GmbH in Berlin.

In his professional career, he has executed different jobs in the company which in early 2010 was renamed 50Hertz Transmission GmbH and which since May 2010 is owned by the Belgian transmission system operator Elia and the Australian infrastructure fund Industry Funds Management (IFM).

Some of the jobs Lorenz Müller has performed since 2003 were: head of section “Customer Care and Use of System”; head of section “Portfolio Management”; and head of division “Energy Management”.

In 2012, he became head “Offshore Projects”. In this position he is now responsible for the realization of the offshore projects in the German Baltic Sea for which 50Hertz is responsible.

Steve joined Ofgem in 2009. As Associate Director, Offshore Transmission he jointly leads the team responsible for offshore network regulation. His focus is on delivering billions of pounds of new investment into offshore transmission networks through Ofgem’s innovative competitive tendering regime. To date he has led on over £1bn worth of transactions in the sector.

Prior to joining Ofgem Steve worked in Hong Kong and the Middle East for Hutchison Whampoa in their global container ports group and before that in management consulting where he advised on multiple major infrastructure deals in the PFI/PPP and other sectors. Steve has a background in civil engineering and an MBA from Oxford.

Stephen Ward is the Head of Project Management for UK Wind within the AREVA Group, focused on the delivery of AREVA Wind’s projects in the UK offshore wind market.  Before joining AREVA, he worked at ScottishPower Renewables as Senior Project Manager and was responsible for the delivery of major onshore windfarms in the UK.

Stephen is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has been involved in civil engineering works for over 25 years, including the energy, waste management and marine sectors.  He has worked for various consultancies (Encia, Mouchel, High-Point Rendel) and client organisations (ScottishPower Renewables, Hanson, Cleanaway, SITA), in the UK, Hong Kong and Indonesia.  Stephen’s experience covers the entire project delivery process from development through to construction project management, commissioning and testing.

AREVA Wind, part of AREVA’s Renewables Business Group, has its head office in Bremen, Germany and its wind turbine production facilities, full load test bench and service centre in Bremerhaven and Stade, Germany.  AREVA Wind UK is based in Edinburgh, where the office provides business development, project management, supply chain and industrial development services.

Edwin van de Brug is commercial manager of Ballast Nedam Offshore and involved in offshore wind for 12,5 years. Working for Ballast Nedam for over 23 years of which the first 10 years as a project engineer and project manager of infrastructural and industrial projects.

Since 2001 actively involved in offshore wind which at the time started for Ballast Nedam with the Offshore Wind Farm Egmond aan Zee. This first Dutch offshore wind farm was successfully turn-key delivered in cooperation with Vestas end 2006. Ballast Nedam has so far been involved in a large number of offshore wind farms and has installed over 400 foundations.

Next to this Edwin van de Brug has participated in national and international offshore wind R & D programs on offshore wind like DOWEC, WE@SEA, Kriegers Flak and Carbon Trust. Next to the day-to-day work he, and Ballast Nedam Offshore with him, feel that offshore wind is only at a starting point and there is a strong need for innovative new ways forward, combining reliability and cost efficient methods. Cost reduction based upon logistical modelling, new foundation concepts and cooperative approaches are his main focus.

Mike Woebbeking is Head of the Certification Body at Germanischer Lloyd Industrial Services GmbH (GL), the leading certification body for wind turbines and wind farms as well as marine energy and other renewables.

He got his degree as a civil engineer from the Technical University of Hanover in Germany and is European / international welding engineer (EWE / IWE).

Mike joined GL in 2001. He has been involved in the certification of wind turbines and the development of guidelines and standards in the field of wind energy for 10 years.

Mike is the secretary of GL’s Wind Energy Committee and member of IEC’s TC88 and its Maintenance Team 22 as well as the CAC (Certification Advisory Committee). He is actively participating therein and guides the work on terminology. Since 2011 he is chairman of the German wind energy committee DKE K 383 (national mirror-committee of IEC TC 88) and of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) of wind turbines CLC / TC 88.

As of 12 September 2013, DNV and GL have merged to DNV GL

The new company DNV GL has started operating as one company with effect from 12 September 2013. DNV GL forms the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society, a leading technical advisor to the oil & gas industry and a leading expert for the energy value chain including renewables. He studied Naval Architecture at the University of Delft concurrently while obtaining a Dutch Naval Commission from the Royal Netherlands Naval Academy. After serving as an Officer in the Navy for 15 years, his offshore career started at "Heerema Marine Contractors", as Manager Operations. He then continued with Stork in a joint venture with "Amec and Jacobs", (AJS, one of the largest integrated service contracts with Shell). Since early 2011 Patrick is a Director at Jumbo, responsible for Jumbo's operations and offshore division.

a) large offshore wind foundation tender projects as EPCI contractor
b) detailed offshore wind foundation designs as consultant. 

This includes vital technical support roles, innovative design initiatives and the embedment of project management tools. The design and project management involves budgeting, time schedule, LEAN and peer review tools on a daily basis. Training of engineers - graduates to seniors - in offshore design and management.

Design experience includes product development and benchmarking of new foundation technologies, conceptual foundation designs incl. analyses of monopile structures, jacket structures, gravity based structures and hybrids and designs of substructures for transformer platforms, both monopile and jacket solutions. 

Technical specialist areas include grouted connections including detailed re-analyses and calibration to measurements, preloaded bolt assemblies, detailed linear/non-linear steel analyses both static and dynamic, detailed steel fatigue analyses both quasistatic and time domain, detailed plastic steel analyses, detailed vortex analyses, soil and structure interaction both piles and gravity foundations, hydrodynamic loading, coating and cathodic protection design, material selection, design risk assessments and finite element modeling.

Tim Fischer has a background from a M.Sc. in Wind Energy from the Technical University of Copenhagen (Risoe-DTU) and a Dr.-Ing in Aerospace and Aircraft Engineering with a major in Offshore Wind from Stuttgart University. Tim currently heads together with Klaus Jacob Jensen Ramboll’s Wind division with over 135 dedicated experts, a business unit that is world-wide leading the design of offshore wind support structures. Besides his commercial role at Ramboll, Tim acted as project manager of the offshore foundation and support structure package of EUs so far largest funded research project in wind energy (UpWind) and currently heads the follow-up project (innWind.EU). Tim is author and co-author of more than 40 scientific publications in the context of wind energy.

Ton Geul has a long experience in the industry commencing at sea, first in merchant navy and thereafter in the offshore construction industry and over last decades in maritime contracting including offshore Renewables.

Starting his carrier at sea almost half a century ago from very junior through the ranks of deepsea master mariner on board DP2 - Diving and Support vessels. In late 80-ties he moved to an office function, holding several operational positions up to project manager in the maritime construction industry and now holding position of Business Development Manager with VSMC a company specialised in installation of submarine power cables.

Ton Geul was very much involved in the launch of VSMC some 10 years ago when the company started. Likewise he was involved in the launch of SPT Offshore (suction piled foundation) which is also part of Royal VolkerWessels same as VSMC.
